Choosing frames for your face shape
The rule of contrast, and the many good reasons to ignore it.
Dispensers often start with a simple rule: choose frames that contrast with your face shape. Angular frames add structure to a round face; curves soften a square jaw.
Fit beats fashion
The frame should sit with your pupils near the centre of each lens, the top of the frame close to your brow line, and no pressure on the nose or behind the ears.
Prescription matters too
Strong prescriptions look best in smaller, rounder frames that keep lens edges thin. Varifocal wearers need enough lens depth for the reading zone.
